What Makes Packaging Feel High Quality?
Packaging is one of those things people often notice without consciously thinking about it. A simple box can feel premium when the material, size, opening experience, and overall design are well balanced.
I’ve been paying more attention to how different packaging choices affect the customer experience. For example, using a box that is unnecessarily large can create waste and increase shipping costs, while packaging that is too small may not protect the product properly.
Another interesting factor is material selection. Kraft, corrugated board, folding cartons, custom rigid boxes, and flexible packaging all serve different purposes. The best choice usually depends on the product rather than simply choosing the most expensive option.
I’ve also noticed that small details such as clean printing, accurate sizing, easy opening, and sensible inserts can make packaging much more practical.
What packaging detail do you think makes the biggest difference to the overall customer experience—material, design, durability, size, or something else?
