How to avoid system slowdowns when querying FishBase API?

I’m working on a small marine data app using FishBase, and while the API is super helpful, I've noticed performance drops during heavy or repeated queries — especially on mid-range PCs or laptops.

Are there any best practices for optimizing query structure or limiting result payloads?

Also, for those using desktop setups, I highly recommend checking your system’s performance bottlenecks first. I use a free Bottleneck Calculator to make sure CPU/GPU balance isn’t slowing things down.

Would love to hear if others have tips for optimizing API usage without overloading the system.
