A person who plays a pedal harp is called a "harpist"; a person who plays a folk-harp is called a "harper" or sometimes a "harpist"; either may be called a "harp-player", and the distinctions are not strict. You may see professional harpists playing the harp in classical settings such as orchestras, ensembles, symphonies, or as solo acts. Besides this route, there are many other options to make a living playing harp.
